Paris on Tuesday

5:00 am start, lovely light & fine day, and off to Paris for a couple of days.
I'm writing this after having breakfast and looking over the fields with cows and rabbits - everything is very still - except the noise of the breadmaker in the background!!

Easyjet flight at 07:30 am . Bristol airport a nightmare - half term and too many children going to Euro Disney. Arrived at Terminal 3 Charles de Gaule on time and train (RER) down to Port Royal and Rue Mouffetard. Lots of food shops, restaurants and cafes. Noted that Tuesday is Market day in Bvd du Port Royal.

Beautiful fruit & veg in the market stalls - pity I couldn't take some back for the party. Cherries 3.80€/kg.

Met Karine (Project Manager) and had a couple of hours before our workshop so it was work preparation and cafe/restaurant hopping. Coffee at La Salle a Manger #138 - nice and casual with stripped wooden tables. Lunch at Le Tournebride #104 - very traditional and crowded. I had cConfit carnard and lovely fresh strawberry tart (seem to be in all restaurants at the moment). Coffee somewhere else then into the real work. Unfortunately the rest of the day was spent in a windowless office (it was beautiful and fine outside).

Walked from work to hotel. Stayed in new one near Place D'Italie and an area called Butte aux Cailles. Small and simple hotel but good location - would return.

Had a wander around and dinner at Les Cailloux. Italian, a bit expensive, but very nice grilled beef with rocket and lovely chewy bread. Other restaurants in the area worth returning to: Chez Nathalie (a woman chef?!), L'avant Gout, L'Ourcine and and interesting chocolate shop Gerard Mulot.
